One Block One Day: Mills/50 District

Take A Tour of the Mills 50 District with us!

So named because it radiates from the intersection of Mills Avenue (US 17-92) and Florida State Road 50 (Colonial Drive), Mills/50 truly is the heart of Orlando. Here, you’ll find a diverse offering of food, culture, shopping and more. The area also lies just south of Orlando’s Culture District, Loch Haven Park.

Let’s take a closer look at some of our picks for a memorable visit to this urban district just north of Downtown Orlando.

Can’t decide between Vietnamese, Thai, Korean or something else? Head to Hawkers Asian Street Food, where you can experience a panoply of Asian favorites. Don’t miss the Roti Canai. At Black Bean Deli, authentic Cuban dishes are served in a converted mid-century gas station. Arrive early and start your day with Cafe Cubano and pastries; consult the website for the rotatining list of daily specials.

Serving Orlando’s runners since 1977, Track Shack offers all the gear you need to hit the ground running. The store also hosts an annual running series. Looking for a cuppa or a hard to find British pantry staple? Check out The British Shoppe for teapots, loose teas and more. Their online store allows you to shop from anywhere, even if you can’t leave the tourism corridor to visit.

There may not be a vineyard out back, but Quantum Leap Winery doesn’t let that keep them from producing award-winning bottles. They source wine from sustainably grown grapes and transport it to their Orlando shop, where they store, finish, blend and package it. Visit an Orlando icon when you step inside of Wally’s. Part liquor store, part bar, the watering hole originally opened in 1954.
