More Florida Beaches Opening During Covid-19 Pandemic

Bay County and Sarasota County reopen with limitations.

Two more Florida counties are opening their beaches amid the current health crisis. Bay County, which includes gulf coast cities like Panama City and Panama City Beach, reopened Friday with some restrictions.

Public beaches in Sarasota County will reopen on Monday, but only for essential recreational activities. Those activities include walking, running, fishing, swimming and surfing. Banned items include chairs, coolers, tents, and umbrellas. Areas like playground and basketball courts will remain closed.

Beaches in Jacksonville, Florida reopened earlier in the week with similar limitations.

As of Friday, April 24, there were more than 30,533 reported cases of Covid-19 in the state, resulting in 1,046 deaths according to myflorida.gov.
