Local Flavor
There seems to be a local culinary entrepreneur toiling away in every corner of Central Florida. The Orlando area, in fact, is alive with bakers and hot sauce makers.
There seems to be a local culinary entrepreneur toiling away in every corner of Central Florida. The Orlando area, in fact, is alive with bakers and hot sauce makers.
Rich and Charlotte Frost are trying to bring those local treasures to light with a website delivery service called Parlor and Pantry (parlorandpantry.com). Launched in May, the online marketplace for the home (parlor) and kitchen (pantry) spotlights such artisanal delights as bars from Winter Park chocolatiers Cocoa Brothers, cookie treats from Merci Bakery, and Sweet Babs Cuban hot sauce. Vegetable stock and bone broths from Winter Garden’s Market To Table can provide the base for home chefs, while slow-simmered red sauce via Orlando’s Uncle Matty’s Food Co. provides the topper. Jams from local stalwart Sunchowder join bottles of cold brew from newcomers Cultura Coffee.
On the Parlor side, Urban Apothecary’s cute terrarium earrings and pet care courtesy of Coconut Clean join quirky lapel pins and bandannas from Orlando’s Secret Society Goods—”even the crepuscular underworld deserves a gift shop.” Shipping starts at $6.99 or items can be picked up at no charge.
Time to send an Orlando care package to your friends.
