Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute’s Dr. Reginald Tall was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty in spine surgery. Dr. Tall treats various spine disorders in children and adults, treating the entire spine, from cervical to lumbar conditions, and spinal deformities.
EDUCATION
Dr. Tall graduated from Dartmouth College and earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. His residency was at Saint Luke’s Hospital Case Western Reserve, and he completed his spinal fellowship at the Minnesota Spine Center. Dr. Tall has over 36 years of experience in spinal surgery. He enjoys the diversity of his practice, treating patients of all ages from preschoolers to seniors.
PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Dr. Tall is the first African-American orthopedic spine surgeon in the state of Florida. He is humbled to have been named by his colleagues to Best Doctors for several years. Dr. Tall is an active member of eleven prestigious associations, which include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and the Scoliosis Research Society.
GREATEST PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
The joy brought by a love and dedication to God; his wife, Michelle, who completed her Ph.D. as a nurse scientist at the University of Central Florida (UCF) and has now joined the faculty at the UCF School of Nursing; and their family including six children, two grandsons, and a granddaughter.
WHAT SETS HIM APART
Dr. Tall is dedicated to ensuring that each patient has a clear understanding of their health and what options are available to meet their individualized needs. If surgery is required, Dr. Tall is confident in his ability to provide a successful outcome, however, he prefers to treat with non-surgical options when appropriate. Dr. Tall’s passion is driven by the bonds he builds with his patients throughout their lives and the enjoyment of enhancing their quality of life. “When a patient comes to me, I know they can leave my office with a good feeling about their options. Surgery is always the last resort,” he says. “I make sure I take the extra time to really educate and counsel my patients.”
