The University of Central Florida is the largest institute of higher education in the country with nearly 60,000 students enrolled each year.

Considering that college students are typically hungry all the time—day and night—it only makes sense that the area surrounding UCF is bursting with restaurants ranging from fast food to dine-in, including both international franchises as well as unique local haunts.

Specializing in subs, salads and “un-wiches” that are made so fast you’ll freak out, this gourmet chain sandwich shop—with two first names—has become a culinary cultural phenomenon for diners on the go.

Pita Pit

4 Rivers Smokehouse

Don’t forget about dessert, as their Sweet Shop is famous for oversized cookies, cupcakes, whole customizable cakes and other desserts. So popular there’s usually a line wrapped halfway around the building, 4 Rivers is truly a local phenomenon that you won’t want to miss.

Lazy Moon
With tasty pizza so big, you’ll need two hands to hold the slices from the 30-inch pies that barely fit on a table. The size of pies is what makes this pizza place a college-crowd favorite. The aged dough, homemade sauce and eclectic, and fresh toppings create superior slices cooked to order. 15 beers on tap allow guests to kick back, eat, drink and be lazy.

Jimmy Hula's
This surf shack combines the coastal flavors of California and Hawaii to create some of the best fish tacos and burgers in Orlando. Try the voodoo taco with sustainable whitefish or shrimp served blackened, grilled or crispy and topped with pineapple-mango salsa and spicy voodoo sauce.
