Tara Weinbrenner and Matt Marshall love sports, but they don’t always root for the same team. While the two UCF grads are united in their support for their school’s football team, they are divided on their loyalty to pro baseball teams. He’s a Mets fan, and she cheers for the Phillies; the two teams are fierce intra-division rivals. But Matt changed teams, if only for one night, to win over Tara. As the two were about to go out to dinner in May 2010, Matt gave Tara a Phillies jersey with his last name on it. “I laughed knowing how hard it must have been to put his last name on his least-favorite team’s jersey, and when I looked up, there he was down on one knee with the ring box open,” recalls Tara, 28, a speech language pathologist. After a few seconds of soaking in the moment, Tara shouted, “Yes! Yes! Yes!” Matt, 27, a quality engineer, surprised Tara again with an engagement celebration with their parents at Hillstone in Winter Park.
