Shoes with Secrets

Looking to add a personal touch to your perfect wedding heels? A popular trend to consider is writing or applying a sweet saying on the sole. From “I do” and “Me too,” to “Ever” and “After,” there are tons of clever phrases to add to your big day outfit that will make it complete from head to toe.

Writing something on the bottom of the bride’s shoe was originally a Greek tradition reserved for the bridesmaids. The bride would write the names of all the unmarried and eligible bridesmaids on the sole of her own shoe, and whoever’s name was the last to be rubbed off was believed to be the next to get married. Though some brides still include their girlfriends in this big day custom, most have helped the trend evolve into something to share with their soon-to-be hubby.

If you’re looking for something romantic, “Mr.” and “Mrs.” might be the most fitting. If you’d like something fun, “I do” and “Help me,” as seen on the right, adds a touch of humor. Many couples opt for their initials and the date to serve as a reminder of the day. No matter what you choose, the words are truly from your heart and sole.
