Resa + Matthew

February 3, 2013, Winter Park Farmers’ Market

The Bride Resa Horta, 22, is a freelance photographer.
The Groom Matthew Magro, 23, is a chef at the
Gaylord Palms Resort.
How They Met When Matthew’s family moved to Florida, they ended up in Resa’s neighborhood. Soon after, Resa and Matthew met at church camp through their older sisters, who were best friends. They quickly became inseparable, and Matthew started to have romantic feelings for Resa. “Matthew was always there to comfort, love and protect me,” says Resa. Matthew hid his affection from Resa for six years in hopes of establishing a strong relationship with her. Then, during the summer of their high school graduation he finally got the courage to kiss her. “We fell deeply in love and were crazy about each other.”
Their Engagement Matthew took Resa to Tampa for their three-year anniversary. After a long day in the city, they made their way to St. Pete Beach to watch the sunset. While playing hangman in the sand, Resa began guessing letters that spelled out “Will you marry me?” Matthew then knelt on one knee and pulled out his grandmother’s ring. “I said yes, of course!” Resa says.
