Paint the Town

How does your mind’s eye view Orlando? Does it see skyscrapers? The Lake Eola Fountain? Orange Avenue? City Hall? Lush blooms at one of the city’s many parks? Downtown dwellers strolling the streets?

We asked local artists to present us with their visions of The City Beautiful and surrounding areas. Orlando magazine editors and Jeffrey Shonkwiler, director of the Gallery at Avalon Island, chose more than 50 of their artworks—from paintings to photographs—to be exhibited in our eighth annual Paint the Town art show. The free exhibition opens March 18 at the Gallery at Avalon Island. Here’s a preview of some of the artworks you’ll see there.
