From Our House to Yours

Welcome to the premiere issue of Orlando Home+Garden magazine. The lovely door on our cover is just a hint of what you’ll find inside: pages of rich visuals and interesting articles to inform and inspire you.

We’ve included the latest trends in swimming pool design, a primer on bed linens, expert strategies for organizing your closet, home-buying advice from the pros, tips for attracting butterflies to your garden and more.

When homeowners think of upgrading, the first room that comes to mind is usually the kitchen. We’ve featured three fabulous remodels—from a stylish $20,000 redo to a dramatic $120,000 transformation—that will give you creative ideas for renovating your own kitchen. Take a look at these striking makeovers beginning on page 50.

Beyond the indoor comforts of home, an outdoor living space is an essential element of the Central Florida lifestyle. And backyard “wow” factors, such as architect Phil Kean’s poolside waterfall table, can transform an ordinary space into your favorite retreat. Turn to page 32 to see how Kean and other Orlando homeowners did it, and how you can create your own outdoor “wow” factor.

Getting back to our cover, the talented designers at Greenery Productions in Orlando fashioned three different door decorations for our photo essay beginning on page 40. A handmade garland composed of magnolia leaves, cedar branches and Leyland cypress was used for each look. Then extra elements—succulents, natural grapevine, faux ice branches—were added, along with a coordinating wreath to depict various seasonal themes. The result was lush and inviting.

Greenery Productions has been creating holiday decorations and more for both residential and commercial clients for 25 years. You can also view their work during the holiday season at any of the following local hotels: Grande Lakes Orlando, Waldorf Astoria Orlando, Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, The Peabody Orlando, Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center, The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort; or check out their website at greeneryproductions.com
