Read the latest from Editor-in-Chief and Publisher Catherine Walters!

This notable cover, formerly known as The Orlando Attraction from December 1948, is now showcased as a larger-than-life mural inside The Pinery at Ivanhoe Village.
This year is an incredibly special milestone for all of us at Orlando magazine. We are thrilled to celebrate 80 consecutive years of publishing, a legacy that began in 1946 with a small but ambitious publication called The Orlando Attraction. Eight decades later, that early vision has evolved into Orlando’s only audited monthly print magazine, a trusted voice of our region and a reflection of the people, places, and culture that make Central Florida extraordinary.
As we step into our 80th anniversary year, we invite you to revisit the journey with us. Beginning on page 16, you’ll find a look back at Orlando magazine’s storied history, from its earliest covers to the editorial innovations that shaped our modern identity. Throughout 2026, you can expect more nostalgia, rare archival moments, and behind-the-scenes glimpses from our print vault as we honor eight decades of continuous publishing.
This month’s issue also brings you an exciting visual celebration of the Orlando Magic. Flip to page 24 for a dynamic photo essay by award-winning Photo Editor Roberto Gonzalez, who captures the team in a way that only he can, full of energy, grit, and unmistakable Orlando pride.
Closer to home, we highlight some of Orlando’s most beautiful neighborhoods and standout residential design. We explore the architectural styles of Delaney Park, tour a Downtown Orlando home brimming with charm and character, and proudly introduce the 165 winners of our annual Home Design Awards. These honorees, from custom builders to architects to interior designers, represent the very best in Central Florida craftsmanship and creativity. If you’re seeking inspiration for your next project, you’ll find plenty starting on page 43.
For those yearning for a brief escape from the Sunshine State, Hilton Head Island may be the getaway you’ve been dreaming of. Writer Jennifer McKee takes you along for a full review of this serene coastal retreat beginning on page 30, offering insight into where to stay, dine, and explore.
January also brings our 2026 Private School Guide, featuring more than 60 Central Florida private schools from PreK through 12th grade. You’ll find detailed profiles, helpful resources, and highlights from select schools beginning on page 59, a valuable tool for loved ones navigating educational options in the region.
And of course, no issue would be complete without Food & Drink. This month, we sit down for a Table Talk with chef Scott Copeland of The Chapman, share a must-try cocktail recipe from local favorite Kaya, and present a January calendar filled with concerts, sporting events, cultural happenings, and charitable fundraisers you’ll want to experience.
Finally, I want to personally thank each and every one of you for subscribing to and reading Orlando magazine. Your support makes everything we do possible.
Here’s to another 80 years, Orlando.
