Executive Director of Emerging Technologies | Full Sail University

Full Sail University has expanded its emerging technology offerings significantly through additional degree programs, new facilities, and real-world collaborations. Dr. Haifa Maamar, Executive Director of Emerging Technologies at Full Sail University, and host of Tech Tuesday – an online show dedicated to exploring and inspiring people to pursue careers in technology – has been instrumental in the university’s forward motion. Leveraging her expertise in fields such as simulation, spatial computing, immersive technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning, gaming, user experience, and cybersecurity, under her guidance, students are being prepared for dynamic careers in innovative design and development.

Dr. Maamar oversees all technology and gaming programs at Full Sail University including undergraduate degrees in Simulation and Visualization, Computer Science, an Artificial Intelligence concentration, a Mobile Development concentration, Interactive Technology, Game Development, Cybersecurity, Information Technologies, User Experience, and Web Development, as well as graduate degrees in Computer Science and Game Design. Currently, she leads four transformative initiatives aimed at redefining the future of education: harnessing artificial intelligence to personalize and enhance learning experiences; employing spatial computing to develop immersive, interactive educational experiences; creating a comprehensive suite of applications centered on drone simulations; and leveraging emerging technologies to develop smart city applications, with a particular focus on smart education and smart healthcare solutions.

Dr. Maamar’s leadership and support have helped to bring to life several facilities such as the Full Sail University Healthcare Technology Lab powered by AdventHealth University, the Full Sail University Fitness Technology Lab powered by Echelon Fit, the Smart Lab, and several information technology, cybersecurity, and software engineering spaces.

Within the community, Dr. Maamar is a member of the following boards: National Center for Simulation (NCS), VR/AR Association – Central Florida Chapter, and Orlando Tech Community. In 2022, she received the Spirit of Innovation Award at the Women’s Inspired Leadership Awards, and most recently in 2025 Dr. Maamar was named a Higher Education Technology Leader by the EdTech Awards. Through these connections to the community, her students and alumni, she represents the breadth and depth of talent found within Full Sail University’s education leadership.
