Coastal Excursions

Five Space-Coast spots you should check out.

Cocoa Beach Pier

The golden oldie is home to six restaurants and bars. Orlando timeshare magnate David Siegel and business partner Jim Gissy recently bought the 52-year-old landmark and plan a renovation.

 Bulow Creek State Park

Miles of hiking trails wind through upland forest, hardwood swamp, salt marsh and tidal creeks near Ormond Beach. A highlight: the 400-year-old Fairchild Oak, one of the largest live oaks in the South.

 Smyrna Dunes Park

Dog beach alert! Your best friend is welcome at this park on 73 acres at the northern tip of the New Smyrna Beach peninsula. There are plenty of fishing and swimming opportunities.

 Canaveral National Seashore

The beaches are undeveloped, and there are no designated picnic areas, phones, food or drinking water. Sounds pretty good to us. There’s choice back-country camping (reservations required) if you enjoy roughing it.

 Hull’s Seafood Market Restaurant

All that great outdoors action will leave you hungry. This unpretentious Ormond Beach gem serves up every seafood platter, sandwich or bucket/basket imaginable.
