Haydn’s Mass in Time of War
October 25-26 The dual themes are love and war with all their power and beauty, as the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra perform Haydn’s work, plus Mendelssohn’s “War March of the Priests” and “Songs of Love and War” by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Paul Moravec. Bach’s Lunch
October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 From swing to strings, this month’s Thursday midday concerts at St. Luke’s offer musical morsels for various tastes. On October 2, Bill Spano directs the Orlando Swing Band in jazz and vocals. Organist Terry Yount and Rollins College soprano Laura Yount perform on October 9. The October 16 performance is by soprano Kimberly Randall from the University of Central Florida opera faculty. The UCF Flute Choir is directed by Nora Lee Garcia on October 23. And on October 30, composer Robert Kerr directs the Emerald String Quartet. Noon. Free admission; offerings accepted. A catered box lunch is available for a modest price after the concerts.
