You could say Brie Turek’s wedding was a politically connected event. Brie, 30, is well-known in Orlando’s power circles as Mayor Buddy Dyer’s former chief of staff. The mayor and his wife, attorney Karen Dyer, hosted a cocktail reception for wedding guests the night before the ceremony at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek. Brie and Mike Sachse, 40, met in Orlando in 2008 while he was visiting from Washington, D.C., where he works for the U.S. Secret Service. It was his sister, a friend of Brie’s, who introduced them. The two began a long-distance courtship that flourished as they visited each other and traveled the world together. In 2009, while in Hawaii, Michael proposed. “The main focus of our wedding was the ceremony,” says Brie. “We wanted our friends and family to hear about our ‘love story’ and how we met, why we fell in love. It was the best day of our lives.” The couple now lives in D.C.

If They Had a Do-Over: They’d have planned for a longer reception. They had to extend the DJ and bar service because everyone was still dancing and having a great time.
