Owner-Chef Fish Morgan is at the helm of Yellow Dog Eats, serving lick-your-fingers dishes that include racks of ribs with “Yellow Sauce” and pulled pork sandwiches, all smoked to perfection. Bread arrives from Olde Hearth Bread Company, and an on-staff pastry chef concocts sweet confections. The menu ensures vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free folks aren’t left out, either. Bonus: Pets can come along for the ride.
Yellow Dog Eats was the first restaurant in Orange County to receive a pet-friendly license from Mayor Teresa Jacobs—on its 20th anniversary two years ago. Today, resident pets include Montel the cat and Chef Fish’s dog, Chili.
“We always wanted to be pet-friendly. All of my bugging the crap out of her [Jacobs] paid off,” Chef Fish, a proud rescue dog and cat owner, laughs. “We had a rabbit the other day; we’ve had birds and a few cats.”
With locations in Gotha and New Smyrna Beach, Yellow Dog Eats is accessible no matter where Central Floridians call home.
And as Chef Fish, a 7th-generation Florida native, says, “Everything in Florida is 20 minutes away.” Which means we all have an excuse to take a drive.
