Trivia Curtis Earth

Curtis Earth prides himself on knowing what makes people tick. He’s worked as a magician, a ventriloquist, a disc jockey and a doorman. He’s worked in hotels, restaurants and retail.

He settled on trivia quiz master and claims to have created the first live trivia quiz game in the country in 1993. Earth—a name he created to stand out at an open-mic event—hosts weekly trivia games at several Orlando locations, including Bikes, Beans & Bordeaux in Audubon Park on Monday nights (outdoors for now). He also stages private and—thanks to the pandemic—virtual events, and his company, Earth Trivia, trains and represents dozens of trivia hosts nationwide.

Earth says his trivia game stands out because it’s more about giving people something to talk and laugh about together rather than stumping them. This philosophy led to the creation of his own signature games, including the Betty White Time Machine game, where people guess if an invention came before or after Betty White was born.

“The most significant thing I miss [since the pandemic hit] is mixing with people,” he says. “It’s never gotten old. I still love it like the first time I did it.”

Paradise Cove (PARADISE COVE)

Making a grand entrance on your wedding day gets even more memorable when you arrive on a boat. Paradise Cove, a family-owned property located along the sandy shores of Lake Bryan, offers a picture-perfect place to say “I do” underneath the shade of cypress trees.

The wedding party preps for the big day with champagne at the Lakeside Suite, a two-story house on the property. From there, it’s just steps to the ceremony site and the boat entrance for the bride’s big debut.

Guests are in on the fun too. A boat service delivers family and friends from various lakeside hotels to the venue. The nearby cocktail and reception areas make celebrating even easier with a catering list of 18 different vendors at a variety of price points.

“We have a romantic reception pavilion just steps away from our cocktail patio and tiki bar. The open-air pavilion is strung with twinkle lights and can be enclosed with air conditioning if needed,” says Kayli Coleman, senior event coordinator.

Wind down with something extra sweet at the fire pit, set beachside and primed for roasting S’mores.
