Baby Face

Here’s how you can get the baby-doll look, the most versatile spring-summer trend.

From dramatic lips and smoky eyes to natural nudes and subtle baby-doll beauty, the spring-summer 2012 beauty trends are wearable looks for everyday life. A dramatic lip, such as a vampy red or deep burgundy, with a spot of mascara and liquid eyeliner create a trendy retro-inspired glam. But the main focus is on the eyes. Professional makeup artist and Orlando Wedding Bridal Council member Heather Schnell favors the season’s baby-doll beauty trend for its versatility and customization for any bride. It’s trademarked with cat-like eyes, with black eyeliner and false lashes making them pop, and a bit of nude lipstick completing the overall look. On  model Adrianna Gaudio, Schnell paired the baby-doll beauty look with a modern, volumized ’60’s-inspired hairstyle. “It’s a very relaxed yet powerful look that’s easily interchangeable between the ceremony and reception,” says Schnell. “Any trend can be customized to let your own style shine through.” On the facing page are a few of Schnell’s favorite products and tips for achieving that baby-doll face.

LASHES

Neutrogena’s Healthy Volume mascara in carbon black 06, $6, area drugstores
“Apply a light coat of mascara to the lashes. Let it dry, then curl the lashes so they’re more moldable. Go back in for a second and third coat to set the look.”

Ardell DuraLash naturals in flare medium black, $3.49, area drugstores
“Apply them near the ends of the lash for a bright-eyed baby-doll look. You can also use a few to fill in sparse areas at the lash line to instantly boost volume.”

LIPS

Benefit Posie Tint blush and lip stain, $29, Sephora and Ulta
“This stain creates a naturally beautiful, flushed bride look. It’s also a good lip base color to build on.”

Beauty Rush lip gloss in Slice of Heaven, $7, Victoria’s Secret
“I love, love, love this lip gloss. It adds subtle shine, but also smells and tastes great.”

BROWS

CARA Cosmetics brow liner in taupe, $15.95, caracosmetics.com
“When in doubt about brow color, always go for taupe. Keeping the brows slightly lighter than the hair color gives the face a more youthful airy feel.”

MAC Brow Set, $15, MAC and major departments stores
“A must-have for setting your brow shape, smoothing down wild hairs and maintaining a polished, well-groomed look all day long.”

EYES

L’oreal Lineur Intense in carbon black, $6, area drugstores, and NYX 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette in Champagne & Caviar 03, $10.99, Ulta
“This is a perfect set of neutral colors for a natural daytime look, then layer the colors for a more dramatic, elegant evening look.”

Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow in Skinlights 730, $6, area drugstores
“Layer these crème shadows with powder eye shadows. The palette is also great for highlighting the area under the brow bone and the inner corners of the eyes.”
