An Everyday Celebration at Market Street Gallery
Market Street Gallery, in Disney’s Celebration, offers décor and gifts for any occasion.
Turn left onto the bricked main street, and you’ll spot the row of charming shops and restaurants leading to the lake beyond. Here, you’ll find Market Street Gallery, where the ever-changing inventory will give you plenty of reasons to return often.
When Disney first debuted its utopian town more than 20 years ago, the company was very particular about what shops would be located in Celebration’s downtown shopping district.
“This is one of the original stores,” says manager Norma Perez, who has worked here almost since it opened in 1997. “Disney wanted local owners and no chains. Our owner lives here, and she owns the bakery next door as well as the children’s train that runs during special events. Most of our employees either walk or ride their bikes to work.”
Market Street Gallery is popular among locals as well as international visitors, who arrive via tour buses to see the town that Disney built. The shop features home décor and gifts by Mud Pie, holiday decorations by Raz, and bags from Vera Bradley, as well as clothing, jewelry and seasonal items. Perfect for summer are colorful beach bags, nautical-themed hostess gifts, artsy scarves by Jim Shore and adorable pool coverups for young girls.
Market Street Gallery also is known for its year-round Christmas shop, displaying beautiful nativity scenes, inspirational items by Foundations, collectible ornaments and an extensive collection of nutcrackers.
“It’s a great place to pop in for gifts, holiday decorations or items for entertaining,” says Holly Terry, a Celebration resident.
Chances are, you’ll end up with too many purchases, but not to worry. A big sign sits above the cash register granting permission: “Your husband called and said you can buy anything you want.” 605 Market St., Celebration. 407-566-1500.
