"Alou" Book Signings
Author Peter Kerasotis will be at two bookstores this weekend to discuss and sign copies of his new book about baseball great Felipe Alou.
If you’ve read Orlando magazine over the years, you’ve enjoyed the numerous contributions of writer Peter Kerasotis. The subjects of his award-winning profiles for us have ranged from golfing legend Arnold Palmer to soccer star Alex Morgan.
Now, Peter has a fascinating new book out about baseball great Felipe Alou, who played 17 seasons in the major leagues with the San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves, Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, Montreal Expos and Milwaukee Brewers. Alou also had managerial stints with the Expos and Giants.
Interestingly enough, Alou intended to become a doctor in his native Dominican Republic, but was pressed into service to replace a baseball player at the 1955 Pan American Games. And thus his journey began. The book is called, appropriately enough, Alou: My Baseball Journey.
If you're over on the east coast this weekend, you're in luck because Peter will have two author discussions and signings of his book:
* Saturday, April 28 at 3 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble in West Melbourne. The first 40 customers will have a chance to buy a copy of the book pre-autographed by Alou himself. Click here for details. (Yes, it's 40 books, not 10 as the website states.)
* Sunday, April 29 at 3 p.m. at the Vero Beach Book Center. There, the first 50 customers will have the opportunity to buy a book pre-signed by Alou. Click here for more information.
* Also, this Sunday at 1:30 p.m., WORL AM 660 in Orlando will air a pre-recorded interview with Peter about the book on Pat Williams' show.
