A Cut Above

Make your wedding’s first impression a lasting one.

Your wedding invitations are the first form of communication you have with your guests. Make a statement by using intricate designs or custom artwork with laser-cut printing.

“Once you have created your artwork in the program, you would place the desired material into the laser printer and watch in awe how the laser beam burns away the material, leaving you with the cutout shape you had designed,” says Lindsay Suozzo of Invitations by Lindsay (invitationsbylindsay.com). “Laser-cut invitations add such a level of elegance and beauty and create some of the most extravagant and detailed designs you can find on an invitation.”While laser cutting has been around for some time now, within the past 5 years it has become a wildly popular format to use for wedding invitation suites. Quite simply, laser cutting is the process of using a laser to cut items through a computer-based program.

Laser-cut invitations are suitable for any wedding style or theme due to the endless amount of designs that are possible. Some of the most popular styles at the moment are a “gatefold” laser-cut invitation with intricate lace detailing, or a monogram suite where the couple’s initials can be laser cut onto their invitation and corresponding cards.

Prices are determined by several different factors. “Invitation suites run anywhere from $8 to $10 each for a standard design,” says Suozzo. “Where prices can increase is with add-ons like accommodation or direction cards, in-depth intricate designs, added detailing such as rhinestones or pearls, additional embossing requests, layering with additional cardstock colors and specialty paper mounting services.” To save time and money, consider printing additional stationery, like wedding programs or “thank you” cards, when ordering your invitation suite.

Try to focus on a style that mirrors your wedding theme and fits comfortably within your budget. Whether you have one piece of material that’s laser cut or an entire wedding suite, your invitations will create a lasting impression among your guests.
