Dr. Alicia Cabrera is an adult neurologist with over 25 years of experience in the field. She’s board-certified by the American Academy of Neurology and Psychiatry, and her journey began in Cuba where she went to medical school and did her neurology residency at the National Institute of Neurology in Havana. After that, she trained at Duke University and later settled in Orlando in 2007.
Dr. Cabrera is involved with the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and the Florida Society of Neurology and works with the AdventHealth System in Orlando. She loves teaching and has been an Assistant Professor at St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine since 2009, as well as teaching medical students from the University of Central Florida since 2014. Dr. Cabrera’s goal is to deliver top-notch neurological care by blending her extensive experience with the latest technology, in fact, she’s recently unlocked a new frontier in patient care.
Dr. Cabrera is excited to be the first neurologist in the area to start offering brain imaging for patients in her office with a portable MRI system. This new state-of-the-art technology will redefine the patient experience by providing unprecedented accessibility and allow for swift, precise diagnosis, with answers when patients need them most.
Her practice covers a range of neurological issues, including Multiple Sclerosis, Myasthenia Gravis, peripheral neuropathy, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, cerebrovascular diseases, and headaches. She approaches her patients with compassion and deep knowledge, focusing on early diagnosis and effective treatments. Outside of work, Dr. Cabrera enjoys reading, hitting the beach, and spending quality time with her two kids, her parents, and their family dog, Coco—preferably all together!
