How often, when we receive our goods in the mail, is our first trip to the recycling bin to get rid of the excess plastics included in the package?

A high-performance outdoor lighting and audio manufacturer based in Marathon, Florida, is aiming to change that. Coastal Source recently launched a new EVO line of solid brass, customizable lighting fixtures. With the new launch came the opportunity to introduce a new, sustainable packaging solution.

“We saw an opportunity to reduce waste and wanted to eliminate plastic and incorporate biodegradable materials where possible,” says Aja Ferretti, a research and development lighting specialist. “As a company named Coastal Source, we’re outside every single day, so marine conservation and beautifying the environment are part of our DNA, and one of the many things that set us apart.”

When EVO products arrive, product identifiers will be printed directly on the box, using water-based inks, rather than a plastic adhesive sticker. Similarly, the product manual will no longer be a separate printed piece of paper, instead it’ll be a QR code printed directly on the box or on the packing slip of the entire order. The products are available in the Orlando area. coastalsource.com
