#6 Noshing, Broadway Style
Things to love about the new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
Concession service with culinary promise has foodies eager to sample night-at-the-theater fare. Charcuteries, locally made cheeses, artisan breads, local seasonal produce, wines and craft beers are slated for menus at the center’s 11 bars and concessions. One bar will be designated a “local watering hole” to focus on Florida wines and craft beers. Barnie's CoffeeKitchen will offer specialty coffee and espresso beverages. And some of Central Florida’s most prominent caterers— Food Glorious Food Catering Orlando, Arthur’s, Puff n’ Stuff and Hyatt Regency— are contracted to provide savory and sweet bites for the center’s catered events. Expect some creativity. Menus will change based on themes for shows and events, including signature cocktails and specialty non-alcoholic beverages for each show. For some performances, guests will be able to carry beverages to their theater seats—all with arm rests that include cup holders. Not ready to leave when the curtain goes down? Extended bar service will offer nightcaps and sweet treats.
An arts center open house for the community is set for Nov. 8-9. For details about opening events and shows, go to drphillipscenter.org.
