#10 Arts for Generations
Things to love about the new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
Can’t wait to share an evening with friends at The Phantom of the Opera in the new Walt Disney Theater? Or to take your tiny dancers to witness Orlando Ballet Family: Nutcracker for the holidays? Your love for the arts had to begin somewhere, and the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts has plans to inspire other Central Floridians of all ages to discover the arts and to participate in creative ways. The center will partner with the Orlando Science Center on Project WoW—“World of Wonder” for pre-K students, their families and teachers. Initiatives include workshops and access to shows, plus professional arts development for teachers. A Broadway Education Program will honor excellence in high-school theater production, and a University of Central Florida partnership includes a 10-day UCF Pegasus Arts Festival next April.
An arts center open house for the community is set for Nov. 8-9. For details about opening events and shows, go to drphillipscenter.org.
