Dear Orlando Magazine,
I have waited anxiously for this months release of the 2012 Dining Awards only to be sadly disappointed. I find it hard to believe that you have listed such a wide array of "Best" categories from different ethnic foods to personalized titles such as Best for Romance or Best for Business dinner. I know I might be overly peeved since this pertains directly to my own personal situation, but, how in the world could there be a Best for Celebrity Spotting on the list, when you didn't even find the room to put a listing for families with children? After all, do we not live in ORLANDO? Mecca tourist travel destination for families with small kids??? Maybe I should not take such offense to this, but I feel as though the awards encompassed so many genres of restaurants that one directed to families should have surely been able to make this article.
Shame on you Orlando Magazine. For forgetting what Orlando is all about. CHILDREN!

On second thought, please boycott all of these wonderful places listed above; one less screaming child to interrupt our meal.
I agree, there should be a family listing so that those of us who do not want to be held hostage to screaming kids will know where not to go. I don't want to spend good money to eat at a resturant that caters to families. Stay home and make us all happy, or better yet go to Disney and spend your money.
Won't someone please think of the children?
orlando is not all about "the children" for those of us that live here. take your kids to chucky cheeses and leave the fine dining to those of us that really enjoy it. there are plenty of places to take kids and not too many to get a 1st class meal. you are annoying.
I agree that there should be a family listing. If you are going for diversity in your categories, I believe this one was overlooked. What I don't agree with is rude comments assuming that all children run rampant around restaurants. Those posting these comments were also children at one time (or possibly IQ-wise, still children) and I am sure they were not perfect angels based on their clearly disrespectful comments. Please consider a 'families' category for those of us that do have control over our children. Maybe even a 'immature' category would be appropriate so those of us with children who are mature enough to handle a fun themed dinner can avoid people like those who posted above.
I am disappointed that the 'hole in the walls' are not listed. I eat out at least 4 times a week, and know of many, many cute and quaint restaurants with great food!
I personally believe that children 10 and under should not be allowed to dine at any restaurant besides McDonald's, Chucky Cheese and such. Who wants to try and enjoy a nice dinner while a little crying rugrat throws pasta alfredo around like it's a Spongebob Squarepants toy? Every time you go out to dinner and get sat next to one of these horrid tables, don't you say to yourself, "what the hell"? Obviously the 10 and under rule will never apply unless you're at a place like V & A's, so I guess what I'm trying to say is keep your kids at home until they learn to behave, and if they don't behave, you might want to focus on raising your kids better and being a better parent in general.

READ THE HEADING, please. DINING.. hopefully others won't go to deep with what what else that word means, but please take that word in the heading as dining... not "let's go out to dinner/ hey, let's go here..etc..". Maybe folks who intentionally think of DINING in search of a restaurant on a list, will only search for what (also in the heading 60 categories, which can be whatever Orlando Magazine wants to put in there). That is why there is also other community papers circulating around town, that lists family friendly places, things, & activities that are everchanging. Also for the hole in the walls... well, again- the heading is DINING AWARDS, based off of the readers. I love hole in the walls! This award is focused on the dining in a restaurant with the appeal of not a hole in the wall.... Leslie R....there is no rule/labeling for people, kids included... for dining. Kids are the responsibility of parents, (behavior, etiquette, etc.. ofcourse). They didnt add best homosexual friendly restaurant, or best outlaw biker friendly restaurant, etc.. Are not these places listed for what it is.. and are not children, invited? I didn't see that rule on what is: kid/toddler/elder/priest/sex offender/ bipolar/regular local kid/ business-oriented/ physically challenged/ unemployed/hustler/law enforcement/college student/etc--friendly. That would totally be on what they(from the perception of who wants to dine at the restaurant to perception of the romantic couple already at the restaurant) want, expect, and their attitude. Should we go on with the flip side of this? Do you want to get into pet friendly now? This is based on a survey of 60 categories... survey made from Orlando Magazine, so if kid friendly isnt on there, make your own survey- have your own awards. This is a magazine, tailored for their readers...If you want to get into that, bring it!
