M Lounge: Up On The Roof
Take happy hour to new heights at this Ivanhoe Village bar.
From three stories up, M Lounge offers spectacular 360-degree views of downtown Orlando.
There’s a little something for everyone at M Lounge, the upscale rooftop bar located on Orange Avenue at Yale Street. The 5,000-plus square foot space is swanky urban lounge meets neighborhood watering hole, which is one reason it has such appeal to the local community. Craft cocktails and panoramic views of the city make it ideal for a fun night out, while the inviting layout and live music serve as a relaxing setting to unwind after work.
The man behind M Lounge is Tim Majors, an Australian businessman and real estate developer who moved to the Orlando area in 2009. After realizing the top floor of his office building, Majors Investments, would be a prime location for a nightlife venue, the idea was born. The doors opened this past May.
Upon arrival, you’re greeted by M Bar, M Lounge’s ground floor sister bar that’s also home to Majors Motors, Majors’ car museum. Automobile enthusiasts will love sipping cocktails and checking out American and European models from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s, including the largest number of Kaiser Darrins in the country. There’s also a pool table built into a Mustang, classic arcade games, ping pong and antique food trucks designed to serve wine and gelato. Playing into this car-centric vibe, once M Bar or M Lounge patrons’ cars are valeted, they can opt to have their ride detailed while they are imbibing.
Three floors up is M Lounge. The focal point of this open-air oasis is Sky Bar, a chic circular bar in the center of the deck where bartenders whip up their signature sips. From “Just Peachy Up Here” (a blend of High West Double Rye, Jack Rudy Sweet Tea, Giffard Peche, grapefruit bitters and lemon) to “From Rooftop To The Stars” (Astral Tequila, Blood Orange Shrub, Grapefruit, Vedrenne Blackberry and Ginger Beer), the entire cocktail menu is aptly named to reflect the aerial ambiance. “We change our drink menu every month,” says Jennifer Inanc, director of marketing. “We work with our mixologist to always keep things different.” Craft beers, wine and charcuterie boards are also available.
Throughout the space there are plenty of couches, tables and chairs, so guests can make themselves comfortable to soak in the sights—and the sounds. Every evening there’s live musical entertainment that ranges from singers and violinists to guitarists and harpists. If music isn’t your forte, you can still catch the game on one of many flat screen TVs. There’s also a VIP section that can be reserved for up to 40 people.
But M Lounge’s most striking feature is its bird’s eye view of Orlando. Since it is at a higher vantage point than other neighborhood buildings, there’s a clear 360-degree vista of The City Beautiful, including the downtown skyline. Once the sun sets, the deck is lit up with twinkling lights and all the surrounding sights are illuminated, so it’s easy to sit and sip under the stars all night long—which is something we’re always willing to toast.
