Orlando’s vibrant art scene is getting a bold new addition with the opening of PEC Arts at the J, an innovative, multidisciplinary arts space in The Packing District. Designed to serve as both a performance venue and community gathering place, PEC Arts at the J brings together theater, dance, film, and visual arts under one roof; a first-of-its-kind collaboration for this growing northwest Orlando neighborhood.
A Vision for Accessible, Local Arts
The new facility was created through a partnership between the Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando (The JCC) and the Performing Arts Center (PEC), with the goal of offering inclusive, high-quality programming that reflects Central Florida’s diverse artistic voices. The space will host rotating exhibitions, live performances, and family-friendly events throughout the year.
“PEC Arts at the J is about making the arts accessible to everyone,” said the program’s director. “We want people to experience professional-level productions in their own community without having to drive downtown.”
Inside the New Space
Located at The Rosen JCC’s North Building in The Packing District, the venue features:
-
A black box theater with flexible seating for small performances and workshops
-
Gallery walls curated by local visual artists
-
Studio classrooms for dance, acting, and music instruction
-
A community courtyard for open-air events and neighborhood engagement
From stage productions and film screenings to art markets and cultural festivals, the calendar will spotlight local talent while hosting regional and touring acts that complement Orlando’s thriving creative identity.
Upcoming Programming
The inaugural season will include performances by Central Florida Community Arts, The Orlando Ballet School, and other local arts partners, along with student showcases and interactive classes. Future plans include summer arts camps, school partnerships, and themed weekends that celebrate everything from Broadway to local storytelling.
Revitalizing The Packing District
The Packing District has quickly evolved into a destination for dining, recreation, and now, the arts. The addition of PEC Arts at the J solidifies its role as a cultural anchor within the community’s redevelopment plan, offering a venue where creativity and connection intersect.
“This project represents the next chapter in Orlando’s artistic evolution,” said one of the founding partners. “It’s not just a building — it’s a home for creativity to flourish.”
