“He sprinkles stardust on whatever song he plays.” — The New York Times
Jazz lovers, mark your calendars. On Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., the Larry Fuller Trio brings its signature blend of hard-swinging rhythm and soulful sophistication to Timucua Arts Foundation (2000 S. Summerlin Avenue, Orlando).
A Modern Master with Old-School Roots
Pianist Larry Fuller is one of those rare artists who manages to bridge generations of jazz. A Yamaha-endorsed artist known for his exhilarating touch and magnetic stage presence, Fuller learned the ropes in the best possible way, by performing alongside legends. His early years saw him sharing the stage with the likes of Ernestine Anderson, Jeff Hamilton, John Pizzarelli, and Ray Brown, whose influence remains central to Fuller’s sound.
Ray Brown once summed it up perfectly: “He brings vitality. He swings hard, and I like that!”
Fuller’s playing embodies the timeless energy of straight-ahead jazz: jubilant, technically dazzling, and always deeply human. He brings the Great American Songbook to life, blending jazz, blues, and pop standards with contemporary flair. At any given performance, audiences might hear a set that moves seamlessly from Stevie Wonder to Oscar Peterson, Wes Montgomery to Joni Mitchell—all infused with his trademark rhythmic exuberance.
The Trio
Backing Fuller is a powerhouse rhythm section featuring Lorin Cohen on bass (known for his work with Monty Alexander and Joe Locke) and Carmen Intorre Jr. on drums (who’s played with Joey DeFrancesco and Pat Martino). Together, the trio creates a sound that’s both technically precise and full of joyful spontaneity with music that feels as alive as the moment it’s played.
From Carnegie Hall to Orlando
Fuller’s résumé reads like a world tour of jazz’s greatest stages—Carnegie Hall, Symphony Hall with the Boston Pops, Hollywood Bowl, Kennedy Center, Grand Ole Opry, and international venues from Tokyo’s Blue Note to Brazil’s Auditorio Ibirapuera. Yet, what sets him apart isn’t just the prestige—it’s the warmth and connection he creates with audiences everywhere.
In Fuller’s own words:
“To uplift people with the joyous spirit of the music. To play with joy, to swing, and play the blues. These are the hallmarks of jazz that inspired me as a child. They are traditions that I continue to aspire to.”
