The Fluid Art movement has arrived in Central Florida! What is Fluid Art you ask? Fluid Art is unlike any other art form in that its natural beauty comes from fluid dynamics. The chaos and unexpected results that tilting your canvas brings after pouring your colors is where the magic lies!
Different pigments of paint are made of different materials so when the pigments are all suspended and mixed together in a similar fluid medium, the various pigments push and pull against each-other. They move around, sometimes mix, and often they rise or sink to create the appearance of organic cells on the canvas. There is always a bit of mystery as to what your final piece will look like, which is part of the joy of this technique.
Hawaii Fluid Art has locations all over the country, dedicated to providing artists of all ability levels the opportunity to learn and experience new art techniques in a semi-private, safe, professional setting through varied classes and experiences.
Michele Vice has brought this concept to Central Florida having just opened their first store in Winter Springs with plans to open two more locations soon in Winter Park and Lake Nona.
Michele shares, “At Hawaii Fluid Art our goal is to inspire and nurture the human spirit through art. It’s a unique experience because people of all ages without any artistic ability can come into our studio and create amazing pieces. This isn’t a typical sip and paint because you choose your canvas and your colors, everything you create here will be wall worthy. Our main experience is creating canvas art with acrylic paints, but we also have glass painting classes, patch parties where you can design your own hats and bags, resin tumbler classes and even a class to decorate charcuterie boards and matching wine glasses. We have something for everyone. It’s the perfect place for corporate events, company parties, birthday parties, date night or a girls’ night out.”
When Michele met Fluid Art Founder Maya Ratcliff they immediately clicked because their stories were very similar. “She spent years in corporate banking and I spent years in real estate development. We both left our careers and stumbled upon a form of art we loved, she was working with acrylic paint and I was creating resin pieces. Mine stayed a small business, but Maya turned hers into one of the top franchises in 2023, with over 100 stores opening this year across the country. There is nothing like Hawaii Fluid Art here in Orlando and we knew the community would love it. The feedback has been amazing.”
