“My first experience with coffee was when my grandmother gave me a hot cup of freshly percolated coffee made with sugar and evaporated milk. It was creamy and sweet and became a beloved morning ritual of my childhood,” says Candice Craig. “I have been drinking coffee every day since that first cup … of course now, it’s lattes! To me, coffee is warmth and love.”
Craig says that BLACKBIRD uses Panther Coffee for the consistency and quality of their roast. “The profiles work nicely with our recipes,” she says.
In addition to the traditional espresso drink offerings, cold brews and teas, BLACKBIRD offers a monthly, themed drink menu. “Winning this award is wonderful because it’s an honor to have been in the running with so many other incredible coffeehouses,” adds Craig. “Sometimes people overlook our coffeehouse because they feel at odds with the comic book side. But once you try us, you get it.”
