ABOUT THE DOCTOR:
Doc “Lucky” Meisenheimer is best known locally as a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon, but nationally he is known as the host of the Golden Mile™ open water swim. The event awards actual gold medals to the winners, double the gold content of an Olympic gold medal. It is also the only open water swimming race in the country that has age handicapping, so anyone of any age has the potential to win a gold medal in this category.
Dr. Meisenheimer is a board-certified dermatologist, Mohs Surgeon, and owner and director of The Meisenheimer Clinic and Day Spa, where the Doctor sees all patients, and a human, not a computer, answers the phones. As a skin cancer surgeon, he has diagnosed and treated over 30,000 skin cancers. However, he also offers a full line of cosmetic services, including Laser Facial Rejuvenation, Botox®, Juvederm, chemical peels, and a Day Spa specializing in customized facials and micro-needling.
For more than 30 years, thousands of swimmers from all over the world have joined Lucky in his daily morning swim. Known simply as “Lucky’s Lake Swim,” it was proclaimed a Central Florida Historic Event in 2016 by the Historical Society of Central Florida. The World Open Water Swimming Association ranks the swim as one of the Top 100 open water swims in America, and Dr. Meisenheimer’s efforts have helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for local charities. An American Swim Coaches Association certified, Level 5 coach, Doc Lucky was the coach of the Orange County Special Olympics Swim Team for 25 years. He has been on the board of the YMCA Aquatic Center since 1992, is a founding member of the YCF Underwater Hockey team and has served as a national team physician.
