While readers see the finished pages each month, they rarely get a glimpse behind the scenes at the person responsible for bringing so many of those stories to life. Roberto had an extraordinary gift for finding the image that didn’t just accompany a story, but elevated it. Whether photographing a celebrated chef, a local entrepreneur, a performing artist or one of Central Florida’s hidden treasures, he approached every assignment with the same level of professionalism, creativity and care.
His work transformed this magazine.
Every publication has talented photographers pass through its pages, but Roberto set a new standard. He brought consistency, artistic vision and an unwavering commitment to excellence that became part of Orlando magazine’s identity. He challenged us to think bigger, to shoot smarter and to tell stories visually with greater impact. Quite simply, he made all of us better.
The recognition from our peers speaks for itself. Throughout his career at Orlando, Roberto earned dozens of industry honors for his photography and visual storytelling, including multiple Charlie Awards from the Florida Magazine Association. While those awards are meaningful, they represent something even greater: the respect he earned from fellow journalists, photographers and designers who understand just how difficult it is to produce exceptional work month after month.
As much as we celebrate this well-deserved moment, it also comes with mixed emotions.
After 13 remarkable years, Roberto has decided to retire. We couldn’t be happier for him as he begins this exciting new chapter, one filled with opportunities to pursue personal passions, spend more time with family and enjoy a schedule that doesn’t revolve around magazine deadlines.
At the same time, it is difficult to imagine these pages without his fingerprints on them.
On behalf of everyone at Orlando magazine, thank you, Roberto, for your talent, your friendship, and the countless moments you’ve captured that will forever be part of this publication’s history. Your legacy will live on in every issue you’ve helped create and in the high standard you’ve set for those who follow.
Congratulations on an incredible career.
