From the moment she first joined FAIRWINDS Credit Union in 2004, Kim Wightman knew she had found more than a job — she had found a life-long career. A natural with numbers, Kim steadily rose through the ranks over two decades, ultimately being named Chief Financial Officer in March 2025. Today, she leads the $4.8 billion credit union’s financial strategy, overseeing accounting, financial operations, asset-liability management, and investments — all while driving a culture of operational excellence.

But Kim’s focus extends beyond spreadsheets and balance sheets. Her passion lies in delivering on FAIRWINDS’ mission to change members’ lives through financial freedom.

“My goal is to keep pushing that mission forward — to empower, to create opportunities, and to strengthen the community we serve,” she says.

Kim succeeds longtime FAIRWINDS CFO Kathy Chonody, who retired in February after 44 years — a legacy Kim honors through her commitment and dedication. “I’m so proud to tell people I’ve been with FAIRWINDS since 2004. My love for this company and the people I work with fuels my commitment every day.”

In addition to her professional leadership, Kim is deeply involved in the Central Florida community. She serves on the board for Harbor House of Central Florida and actively contributes to its finance and Paws for Peace committees. A proud graduate of the University of Central Florida, Kim holds a bachelor’s in accounting and an MBA.
