Full Sail University
The curriculum, developed by Patrick in collaboration with Full Sail University, aims to provide students with real world experience both on camera and behind the scenes. Students within the degree program, which is offered both on campus and online, learn the foundations of sportscasting including interviewing, voice work, and writing, as well as advanced concepts such as storytelling, newsgathering, reporting, multimedia communication, and more.
With guest lecturers including industry leading experts such as Kevin Neghandi, Kraig Kann, Jay Harris, and Nicole Briscoe, students have the unique opportunity to learn directly from these, and other notable professionals currently in the industry today. Students also gain valuable insight from Patrick himself, who regularly participates in guest lectures, portfolio reviews, and curriculum reviews both online and on campus.
Since day one, the program has been led by Gus Ramsey, a former WESH and ESPN veteran producer with over 25 years of experience, who serves as Program Director of the degree. According to Ramsey, the sportscasting program’s faculty and staff have a combined total of 300 years of relevant industry experience in the field. This paired with Patrick’s expertise and Full Sail University’s award-winning educational model, allows graduates to serve as next-gen talent within the sportscasting industry. This educational collaboration has seen graduates who have gone on to garner employment in markets across 42 states and 5 countries, with notable industry leaders including CBS Sports, ESPN, FOX Sports, and more.
