Editor Letter For April: What Willie Said

As I write this, I’m off on another travel journey.

Every year, the first quarter becomes a blur, what with getting back into a regular grind after the holidays, deadlines, Daylight Saving Time and impending taxes.

So I’m happy to squeeze in a trip or two, making some me and/or discovery time to visit a new locale or revisit one of my favorites.

This time it’s Charlotte, N.C. I’ve been to Charlotte many times for work, but this is a personal trip (well, as personal as it can be when you write about travel), as I’m mostly checking out all the restaurants I’ve never gotten to (I’ve already visited the food hall twice), plus a smattering of museums and a concert. The best part is that my hubby and I are staying at a hotel smack-dab in the middle of Uptown-—we parked the car once and are walking to everything.

How I love a walkable city!

Next up is a trip I’ve been waiting years for, and it’s finally arrived: The Florida Keys. I know, it’s not that far from Orlando, but I’ve been slowly working my way down the state. The opportunity has finally presented itself. It reminds me of an overseas trip I took while in grad school, which I jumped on in case I might not have that chance again. It turns out I was right, as my overseas experences have been limited, although my passport is ready.

Really, I’m just following the advice in the sound stylings of Willie Nelson:

“Seein’ things that I may never see again/And I can’t wait to get on the road again.”

Have truer words ever been spoken (for a wanderer anyway)?

Whether you’re looking for a quick trip to the Space Coast or want to visit Florida’s southernmost city, Key West, we’ve got something for you in our Travel Issue. Learn what makes each Florida coast unique, find out where to sink your toes into the sand, visit a museum, go kayaking or interact with animals. Then, turn to our dining section for a look at the best coastal cuisine by area and type.

If you’ve got to get back to work, we can help you with that too. Orlando has the fourth-highest business application rate in the nation, and if you’re looking for a space to branch out into or just grab a desk, our guide to coworking spaces is a real eye-opener.

Lastly, if you’re in need of or know someone who needs a good attorney, rest assured that the professionals in our annual Best Lawyers list have got your back—they’ve been recommended by their peers. We all need a little help now and then.
