Cara Dalia’s wedding day was no joke, but how she became engaged was. When she and Jared Mellick flew to Raleigh, N.C., to visit her father, Cara arrived wearing a veil, a fake ring, and a fabricated story of a wild, spur-of-the-moment wedding in Vegas. But Jared, 36, co-owner of a roofing and construction company, and Cara’s father conspired to turn the joke on her. As Cara, 30, owner of an interior design business, went into her spiel, her father opened his shirt to reveal a t-shirt with the words “I give my consent” on it. Jared then dropped to a knee and said, “Let’s do this for real.”
“The day was magical! We loved every minute, sharing it with all our friends and family made it even more perfect.”
