What is a SMILE DESIGN?

Creating a Smile design is our method for crafting a beautiful, harmonious smile that is both aesthetically pleasing and functionally sound. The process begins with a high definition 3D scan, complemented by a series of digital photographs and precise measurements. Using these images, Dr. Patel and lab technician collaboratively develop a personalized smile makeover, carefully considering factors such as length, shape, size, and balance. Once the design is finalized, 3D-printed models are created, which serve as a visual representation of the potential transformation, allowing patients to preview their results before proceeding to their smile makeover journey.

Why are dental x-rays important for our pediatric patients?

How do digital x-rays benefit our patients compared to traditional x-rays? Children’s teeth and jaws are constantly growing and developing. With digital dental x-rays, we can detect dental issues that may not be visible during a routine clinical exam. These digital radiographs provide quicker results, as images are available immediately, while using significantly lower radiation than traditional x-rays. The x-rays help with early detection of cavities and dental infections, identifying occlusal misalignments, and highlighting other oral health concerns. Using digital x-rays also allows for prompt treatment and better long-term outcomes for our pediatric patients. Additionally, digital images can be easily stored and shared with specialists, if necessary, facilitating better collaboration in treatment planning.

Do I Need to See a Dentist for Sensitive Teeth?

Sensitive teeth can be a frustrating and uncomfortable problem, and affecting how you eat, drink, and go about your day. Tooth sensitivity occurs when the protective layers of your teeth are compromised, exposing the inner layers to external stimuli like hot, cold, or acidic foods. This can result from a variety of factors and an oral examination is essential to pinpoint the exact cause of your tooth sensitivity. Treating tooth pain e ectively depends on addressing the root issue, whether it’s as simple as switching to a softer toothbrush or a bit more complex as undergoing a gum graft or dental bonding.

Tooth sensitivity might seem like a minor annoyance, but it can signal underlying issues that require professional care. Whether you’re dealing with mild discomfort or sudden tooth pain, we can help identify the cause and recommend effective treatments for sensitive teeth.

What is Comprehensive Dentistry and why do we offer it?

Comprehensive dentistry is an all-encompassing approach to oral healthcare that focuses on addressing the full range of a patient’s dental needs. Rather than simply reacting to individual issues as they arise, it emphasizes proactive care to build a strong foundation for long-term oral health while preventing future problems. This approach prioritizes evaluating and treating all aspects of oral health, including the teeth, gums, jaw joints (TMJ), and overall function.

Once these foundational needs are met, we can move on to fulfilling an individual’s aesthetic goals using cosmetic treatments such as restoring the natural length of teeth, veneers, precision-guided dental implants, Invisalign, teeth whitening, and much more. By combining necessary care with personalized enhancements, comprehensive dentistry allows us to not only maintain an individual’s oral health but also elevate one’s smile to its fullest potential.

Who would be a good candidate for implant-supported dentures?

If you are missing all (or most) of your teeth on at least one jaw, getting fitted with implant-supported dentures may be the most viable option for you. This protocol attaches custom dentures securely over 4-6 implants, which are drilled into the arch of the mouth. Compared to the alternative of replacing missing teeth one by one, the option of a same day implant-supported prosthetic is better for your bone health, is longer lasting, and is far more affordable.

How important are sleep and breathing to overall wellness, and what are the alternative solutions?

Sleep and breathing affect overall wellness. The signs of snoring, frequent sleep interruptions, chronic fatigue, morning headaches, and high blood pressure can lead to heart attacks, strokes, Alzheimer’s disease, and more.

We are VIVOS INTEGRATED PROVIDERS. Pneumopedics is the physiologic enhancement of the upper airway via naturally occurring and treatment-induced changes over time. The VIVOS system incorporates the science of Pneumopedics in its treatment protocols for addressing underdeveloped jaws in adults and children. This system is a multi-disciplinary treatment protocol that may treat sleep apnea and sleep-disordered breathing. This treatment averages 12-24 months in duration and is non-surgical and non-pharmaceutical.

I have gum recession and was told I need a gum graft. Is it possible to treat this without taking tissue from the roof of my mouth?

Modern gum grafting techniques allow us to treat recession comfortably— in many cases without taking tissue from the roof of the mouth. Gum recession can expose tooth roots, leading to sensitivity, increased risk of decay, and cosmetic concerns. While traditional gum grafting involves taking tissue from the roof of the mouth, newer techniques allow us to treat recession using specially processed graft materials instead. These biocompatible materials are designed to integrate with your own tissue and help regenerate healthy gums—without the need for a second surgical site. This means less discomfort, a faster recovery, and excellent functional and cosmetic results. An evaluation can determine whether this minimally invasive option is appropriate for you.

What is minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry?

In recent years, we have seen a rise in young adults having veneers and crowns to achieve “Instagram worthy smiles.” To achieve these smiles people were often removing healthy tooth structure to have porcelain veneers. While it may be a great option for certain cases, porcelain veneers can be a very aggressive treatment for young, healthy enamel. Minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry focuses on achieving your desired look without compromising your natural tooth structure. We have multiple ways to achieve your desired result. My personal favorite is a combination of composite resin bonding and enameloplasty.

What are the advantages of digital dentistry?

With digital dentistry, we can scan teeth and create digital models of teeth. Since implementing digital scanning, the workflow has become more efficient.

Help, my child snores and grinds his teeth!

Snoring and grinding are NOT normal. They may be signs of a child not receiving enough oxygen during sleep. This can lead to ADHD, bedwetting, allergies, crowded teeth, short temper, and so much more. Through soft oral appliances worn while the child sleeps, we are able to develop a child’s ideal airway naturally so that they can be the healthiest versions of themselves. We work to promote nasal breathing and widening of the dental arches, developing the jaw naturally, all while straightening teeth WITHOUT braces. Kids love them! We start as early as age 2, like I did with my own son. Healthier kids with straight teeth through sleep!

Laser vs. GentleWave®: Which is Better for Root Canal Disinfection?

Both Laser and GentleWave® are advanced technologies for root canal disinfection, but GentleWave® provides superior deep cleaning and preservation. Laser Technology uses high-energy light to eliminate bacteria; vaporizes infected tissue, reducing mechanical instrumentation; seals dentinal tubules, lowering reinfection risk; and is effective for deep infections and bacterial biofilms. GentleWave®: The Superior Disinfection Technology uses acoustic energy and fluid dynamics for deep cleaning; reaches microscopic areas traditional methods can’t; preserves more tooth structure, minimizing invasiveness; eliminates bacteria more efficiently in all canal spaces; less post-treatment inflammation for a more comfortable recovery; and provides more predictable long-term success, reducing retreatment risks.
