If you’ve seen Bridesmaids or either of The Hangover movies, you know today’s brides and grooms have ushered in a new era of pre-wedding festivities that often include lavish trips to wild destinations. But you don’t need to look outside of Florida to find a great location for a bachelorette party getaway. Read on as a handful of Orlando brides share their tips for unforgettable girls-only adventures in the Sunshine State.

 


 

Key West

Beautiful beaches, killer restaurants, sunset wine cruises, an endless assortment of bars and an “anything goes” atmosphere make Key West an ideal getaway for a bachelorette weekend.

Or explore Key West as you and your friends compete to find designated spots on the Southernmost Scavenger Hunt (keywesthunt.com; $20 per person), an adventure that can be customized for each bridal party.

+PARTY

Kick off the evening with a sunset sail on Danger Charter’s Wind and Wine Cruise (dangercharters.com; $75 per person), departing daily at 4:30 p.m. As the sun disappears into the Gulf, you and your posse will be sipping eight different types of wines and noshing on hors d’oeuvres.

Back on shore, take the Key West Pub Crawl (keywestwalkingtours.com; $29.95 per person), a 2.5-hour guided tour with stops at five of the island’s most notorious watering holes. A different cocktail will be served to your gang at each stop. Afterward, head back to your favorite haunt to close out the night.

South Beach

After hours, Collins Avenue’s Art Deco district lights up

Miami’s South Beach district packs a seemingly endless number of swanky spas, posh boutiques and star-studded nightclubs into just a couple of square miles.

Art Deco-chic and just steps from South Beach’s best hot spots, the Catalina Hotel & Beach Club (catalinahotel.com ) on Collins Avenue touts a Style the Last Mile bachelorette package that includes special room rates, a bottle of premium vodka on arrival, VIP club passes, complimentary nightly martini rounds during the hotel’s happy hour, mani/pedis and group massages for an unlimited number of people in your party. Prices vary according to availability. Rooms from $150-$250 per night, party package $25 per person, add-ons extra.

Play in the mud or get cleansed in a waterfall at the Standard Spa at the Standard Hotel (standardhotels.com), where you and your gang can book experiences  like the 150-minute Triple Detox body treatment ($295) or amble through a dozen DIY rejuvenation stations, like the 50-degree Arctic Plunge pool in the hydrotherapy playground that dots the sprawling bayfront refuge. A day pass costs $40 midweek and $75 on weekends.

Charter a 51-foot yacht and spend the day cruising Miami’s waterways, touring Star Island (so named because of the A-list celebrities who live there) and stopping at waterfront restaurants. Yacht Charters in Miami (yachtchartersinmiami.com; $1,800 for a half-day) will staff your vessel with a captain and first mate so that you and 11 guests can enjoy the day sailing, sunning and swimming.

Posh Nikki Beach (nikkibeachmiami.com) is the ideal South Beach party spot. This beachfront nightclub, with its classic South Beach décor, fiery tiki torches, towering palms, and cozy cabanas and lounge beds, boasts an alfresco toes-in-the-sand-cosmo-in-the-hand sort of party that lasts until 5 a.m. $20 cover on Sundays only.

Miami Stardom (miamistardom.com) will create a custom bachelorette package that includes limousine transportation to your favorite South Beach nightclub, where you’ll receive express entry, free cover, a reserved table and your own VIP host for the night.  Other perks include pre-party drinks at a boutique lounge and champagne in the limo. $100 per person.

Or explore the nearly 500-year-old city via Old Town Trolley Tours (trolleytours.com; $23 per person), a hop-on-hop-off, narrated sightseeing expedition with stops at favorites like the The Fountain of Youth and the Spanish Quarter.

Board the Black Raven Pirate Ship (blackravenadventures.com; $29.95 per person) for some swashbuckling shenanigans with your bridal buccaneers. This two-hour booze cruise, setting sail Friday and Saturday at 8:15 p.m., features skits, tunes, trivia and drinks.
