SPCA DIAMOND GALA
The SPCA of Central Florida will celebrate its 75th year with a Diamond Anniversary Gala on Sept. 15 at the Full Sail Live Venue in Winter Park. The black-tie affair will include a formal dinner provided by Emeril’s Tchoup Chop, an open bar, silent and live auctions and entertainment by The Dave Capp Project. BIRD SHOWCASES
Exotic Bird Events stages five shows a year at the Central Florida Fairgrounds, featuring breeders with birds for sale, plus cages, food, toys and more. The next shows are set for Oct. 21 and Jan. 13. exoticbirdevents.com
 
AKC/EUKANUBA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Thousands of dogs will be entered in the annual competition Dec. 15-16 at the Orange County Convention Center. Last year’s overall winner was a male standard poodle named London (who enjoys Frisbee fetching, squeaky toys and swimming). akc.org
 
PET-A-PALOOZA
The second annual extravaganza is set for Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Seminole Soccer Complex, 7390 Markham Road, Sanford. Activities include pet contests, music, pet photos with Santa, kids’ activities, and the chance to adopt a pet. 
 
SPRING FLINGS
April is the time for a couple of dog-centric events in Central Florida. The Doggie Art Festival is a street fest featuring the art of pets, plus pet vendors, along Park Avenue in Winter Park. The Doggie Derby in Baldwin Park is just what it sounds like—pooches racing one on one for trophies and prizes. Watch our pages next year for exact dates and details.
