iPhone apps cover our world, even those parts hiding in plain sight.

Traffic JamCam Orlando

This $2.99 app links up with cameras along Interstate 4 and other Orlando-area highways to help you avoid traffic nightmares. Though the cameras aren’t live, photos are updated every minute.

SwamiCity Orlando

For the arts-loving and nightclubbing resident comes this free app. SwamiCity Orlando lists dates of concerts, plays, and other arts events, and shows you nightclubs closest to where you are. Eco-friendly businesses are featured so you won’t leave your carbon footprint.

Orlando Walking Tours and Map

You’re entertaining out-of-town guests and they’ve been to every theme park… twice. Choose one of the seven self-guided walking tours, which feature downtown, museums, galleries and architecture. While a free version is available, the $4.99 app will tell you what you’re seeing at every turn.

OpenTable

Make reservations at more than 120 Orlando restaurants with the tap of your finger. This free app can save you a table at select restaurants, whether it’s that day or a week in advance. When you’re traveling the country, OpenTable will find restaurants wherever you are.

Golf Florida

Whether you’re in Orange County or any Florida county, this free app can help you find an 18-hole course or locate a driving range. Amenities are listed for each club and phone numbers are included so you can reserve a tee time.

Surf Report

Surfers and other beachgoers will appreciate this free app, which gives wave heights, water temperature, and times for high and low tides. A water safety feature alerts you if any unwanted sea creatures have been spotted. Best of all, it covers the world, from Cocoa Beach to Costa Rica.

Hidden Mickeys

Ever notice classic Mickey Mouse heads hidden throughout the Disney theme parks? Probably not, unless you’re looking for them. Access this $5.99 app next time you’re at one of the four parks, and it’ll take you on a scavenger hunt for “Hidden Mickeys” throughout rides, in signs and on walkways. (Hint: Check out the placement of dishware on the Haunted Mansion ride’s banquet table.)

EZ Weather Orlando

Based out of Orlando International Airport, EZ Weather Orlando, a 99-cent app, shows local conditions including the current weather, a seven-day forecast and live radar.

Flixster

With Flixster, you can find the closest theater to your current location and check movie times for the day. Some theaters allow you to buy tickets through the free app, so you won’t have to wait in line and miss the best part of all movies—the previews.

Halloween Costume Generator

Need the ultimate costume for stepping out in O-town on Halloween night?  Get some fresh ideas with this $1.99 app. Select your gender, the type of party you’re attending and the look you’re going for—bold, conservative, frisky, goofy or last minute. Shake your phone, and just like that, you get a suggestion for something other than the vampire you’ve been for the past five years.

BlockShopper Orlando

Looking for a house to buy? BlockShopper Orlando can GPS your location and flag residences on the market. When selected, the current owner, price and taxes for a house are shown. You can take photos of your potential new home and add them to a “Favorites” list with this free app.
