An A&E Pocket Guide for November

Amy Sussman

11/5 After a temporary hiatus, Paramore is back with its new self-titled album that has produced hits such as “Now” and “Still Into You.” The band, which hails from Franklin, Tennessee, will rock the CFE Arena on the UCF campus with a show that lead singer Hayley Williams promises will be “larger than life.”,

11/15-23 The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee tells the story of six young students eager to prove their spelling prowess in the annual spelling competition. The contestants are sure to charm outsiders and overachievers alike as they realize there’s more to life than winning. The musical comedy will be staged at the Annie Russell Theatre on the Rollins College campus.

11/8-10 The annual Festival of the Masters transforms Downtown Disney Westside into a vibrant, open-air art festival featuring works in all mediums by award-winning artists, plus live music and hands-on activities. Artists from the Central Florida Chalk Artists Association will be on hand to create masterpieces on the sidewalks.

11/2 Hard Rock Live hosts “America’s favorite dancers” for the So You Think You Can Dance tour. The Top 10 from the 2013 season will perform popular dances from the Fox television show as well as new pieces choreographed for the tour.,

Through April The Orlando Magic celebrate their 25th anniversary this 2013-14 season. The home opener sees the team take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Nov. 1, followed by three consecutive home games against the Brooklyn Nets (Nov. 3), the Los Angeles Clippers (Nov. 6) and the Boston Celtics (Nov. 8).,

11/20 Host of The Late Late Show on CBS, comedian Craig Ferguson infiltrates the Hard Rock Live with his “Hot & Grumpy” tour. With an Emmy and several acclaimed standup comedy specials under his belt, Ferguson is sure to bring the laughs with his brand of brash Scottish humor.

11/16-24 The Orlando Museum of Art becomes a fantasyland of holiday-decorated trees and scenes for the 27th annual Festival of Trees, the museum’s major fundraiser. Designer trees and vignettes, a gingerbread village, Toyland Town, and a holiday boutique and garden will put a sparkle in your eye and gifts for the hard-to-shop for in your basket.

11/15-1/5 Light Up UCF is back for its sixth year at the CFE Arena, with an outdoor ice rink, rides, music, free holiday movies and a one-of-a-kind light show—an extravaganza designed to put attendees in the holiday spirit before you can say Ho-Ho-Ho.

The Arabian Nights Holiday Show, Amirah’s Wish, is the only Central Florida
holiday celebration on horseback. This special version of the dinner show features Santa Claus and a genie joining in an effort to bring holiday cheer to a glum Princess Amirah. But not likely dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh.
