Wedding Beauty: It's In The Details

Make your mani marriage material by matching your fingertips to your floral arrangement.

Make a statement as you walk down the aisle with beautiful, one-of-a-kind nail art that coordinates with the color and design of your bridal bouquet.

From numerous hair trials to finding the perfect waterproof mascara, every bride-to-be wants her wedding day look to be absolutely perfect. One grooming aspect that tends to be overlooked? Her manicure. For many women, their bridal polish tends to fall somewhere between pale pink or a shiny pearl. While it may be simple, it can also be a snooze. A fun and unexpected alternative to a classic nude is a design that reflects your bridal bouquet. Not only will nail art show off your personality, but it will also make any close-up photos of your ring or flowers stand out.

There are a few things to consider if you’re looking to match your fingertips to your bouquet. Different flowers are in bloom at different times throughout the year, so keep that in mind when choosing a nail color. “Make sure to bring the bottle of polish into the floral consultation. That way the florist can show the client different options for flowers,” says Rochelle Koontz, event manager at In Bloom Florist in Orlando. “Also, choose a bouquet style that isn’t too freeform or cascading.” This will ensure that your distinctive nails will be front and center.

In terms of a design, select something that reflects your personality. If you love making a statement, try putting art on every nail. Think: A different flower painted on each finger to represent the blooms in your bouquet or a petal design at the base of each nail. For brides who want something more subtle, accent only one tip by using colors from an arrangement of garden roses, dusty miller, ranunculus, rose-lilies, seeded eucalyptus, and silver dollar eucalyptus (shown at left). “When choosing a nail design, consider every aspect of your wedding—your dress, wedding color palette, flowers and location,” advises nail artist Ksenia Kuptcova,  who created this gel manicure using Russian nail brand EMI at Azul DREAMSPA in Baldwin Park.

Consider that an intricate style like this one is going to take time and money. The base rate for a gel manicure is $45, then designs can run from $5 to $20 per nail depending on the design and detail. From start to finish, the manicure can take up to three and a half hours. However, it’s the perfect getaway for a bride who needs a little “me” time to unwind before the big day. Not to mention, Azul DREAMSPA has a relaxed, secluded atmosphere that is perfect for finding your zen before the wedding festivities begin. They also offer skincare and massage services, a saltwater pool and refreshments.
