Cool Down with these Refreshing Summer Cocktails

It’s summertime – a great time to try some old favorite cocktails and some new delights.

It's summertime - a great time to try some old favorite cocktails and some new delights. So raise your spirits and join me in sipping that perfect cocktail to capture the feeling of an endless summer. Enjoy new warm-weather cocktails from around The City Beautiful.

Whiskey Tango

Whiskey Tango; Corona Cigar Lounge
This nice twist on the classic Mojito was elegantly prepared by FELISSA OLIVO.
1.5 oz. Gentleman Jack
1 oz. Simple syrup
3 each Lime quarters
2 each Mint sprigs
1 each Small button of ginger
1-2 oz. Soda water
Muddle 2 slices of lime, ginger, and 1 sprig of mint with simple syrup in a Boston shaker. Add Gentleman Jack and ice, shake vigorously and pour using a julep strainer over fresh ice. Top with soda and garnish with mint and lime. Et Voilà!
And who said you can't drink whiskey in the summer? This is how you mix whiskey the right way and raise your cocktail game. This aromatic, expressive whiskey-based cocktail delivers a well-balanced flavor of vanilla and spice accompanied by caramel sweetness from the whiskey and a zesty aroma of citrus and mint from start to finish. A timeless crowd pleaser and summer sipping Gentleman Jack style. Gentleman Jack is a high-end mixing whiskey but you can also enjoy it by itself (neat), on ice, with Coke or ginger ale.

Orlando Pride

Orlando Pride; STK Disney Springs
STK Worldwide has created this specialty drink in support of the recent tragedy in Orlando. This signature summer drink for a cause was prepared by MOLLY OLAVARRIA.
2 oz. Gin
1 oz. house-made simple syrup
6 muddled raspberries
1/2 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
¾ oz. egg whites
Dry-shake the ingredients; add ice and strain into a chilled martini glass.
This cocktail is served at the following STK locations: Miami, New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., London and Milan. A major portion of the sales of this cocktail goes to help the victims of the Pulse Nightclub shootings. In addition to serving a noble cause, this drink is very tasty and represents the season perfectly.

White Lily or Shirayuri

White Lily or Shirayuri; Morimoto Asia’s Forbidden Lounge & Restaurant
This exotic and mouth-watering drink was prepared by CARMEN RODRIGUEZ.
2 oz. Sudachi shochu
1 oz. Calpico
.25 oz. Lemon juice
Splash of yuzu juice
Build ingredients in mixing glass over ice. Shake well. Strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist and orchid flower.
This cocktail is fruity, rich, and velvety in texture. It takes your cocktail experience to a whole new level with its unique flavor profile, and depth. Very exotic drink enjoyed in a very forbidden lounge atmosphere. Some of the ingredients in this cocktail may not be available at your local liquor store.

Frontera Margarita

Frontera Margarita; Frontera Cocina by RICK BAYLESS, DISNEY SPRINGS
KYLE FLANIGAN and Tequila Ambassador HILDA CASTILLO impressed with this simple, straightforward and freshly crafted drink. (Kyle Flanigan is the bartender who presented the drink and Hilda Castillo is the bar manager and Tequila ambassador who created and designed the cocktail)
2 oz. Tequila Blanco
1/4 oz. Agave nectar
3/4 oz. Orange liqueur
3 oz. Lime juice
Prepare a margarita serving glass with kosher salt around the rim and set aside. Put all the ingredients together, shake well and serve up.
Simple, straightforward and freshly crafted cocktail.
Blanco tequila is a versatile, bright and showy complement to the citrusy flavor of the mixers and the sweetness of the Agave. A truly thirst-crunching, tasty cocktail.

The Paradise Rum Punch

The Paradise Rum Punch; Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar
This cocktail was prepared by JASON ROMAN.
1 oz. Don Q Coconut Rum
1 oz. Don Q gold Rum
0.7 oz. Licor 43
0.50 oz. Falernum
1.5 oz. Pineapple juice
1.5 oz. Freshly squeezed OJ
.75 oz. Guarapo
.50 oz. Fresh lime juice
.75 oz. Coconut milk
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Hurricane glassware
Combine all ingredients in a small tin. Dry shake contents and set aside. Fill a hurricane glass with ice. Pour contents of tin over ice. Garnish with a lime wedge and mint sprigs.
Rum Punch is making a comeback and you can't find a better scratch bar than The Rum Bar at Cuba Libre. All the ingredients are fresh, and this hand-crafted cocktail offers a nice mix of tropical fruit, richly textured and artistically designed.

My advice this summer: Be bold and adventurous! Go out tonight and try a new cocktail, lie back, relax, sip and enjoy.
