Enter Lauren Sigman’s Winter Park home and you realize immediately that flowers form a central theme in her life. There are white orchids in planters, and on the walls hang a painting of a rose by the Italian artist Benini and an abstract image of orange gerbera daisies. The floral motif provides not only aesthetic comfort but inspiration to Sigman as she tends to a new career that she hopes will blossom.

After learning how to hand-craft jewelry from a metalsmith, the married mother of three and former account manager at Sprint for 18 years recently completed her first jewelry collection, “Life in Color.” She molded fine silver metals, yellow gold and gemstones into floral-based necklaces, bracelets and earrings. “It’s happy, it’s fun, it’s optimistic,” Sigman, 42, says of her collection. “And it really can be worn by someone who is 25 or 45.”

In March, Sigman traveled to the JA New York Show, an international showcase for fine jewelry designers, where her work caught the attention of the costume designer for USA Network’s hit show White Collar. Look for some of her pieces on female characters during the show’s second season, which got under way last month.

Her jewelry is sold at Be on Park in Winter Park or through her website, laurensigmanjewelry.com.
