Randall Smith: Old Fables of New Stories
November 1-29 The large-format photography of one of Arts on Douglas’ regular stable of artists has its beginnings in an assemblage of found objects. Smith says the resulting work is “a continuation of an older series, but to some extent is more playful and quirky.” Opening reception November 1, 4-7 p.m.

Charles Turzak and Kitty Petterson: Remembering Our Fine Art Printmakers
Through November 7 Turzak (1899-1985) created numerous woodcut print commissions for the WPA in the 1930s and others, before moving to Orlando. Collectors prize his limited edition prints and paintings from the 1960s. Petterson (1948-2001) lived in the Middle East and then Winter Park. In Central Florida, she was commissioned to create serigraphs for UCF, Lynx, the Dr. Philips Foundation and others.

Enigmatic Expressions: Expressionist Art
November 11-December 5 Expressionistic digital compositions of Hudson Hill are introduced alongside works by Nancy Jay, Jim Casey, Joe Shiavo and Karen Carasik. Artist reception, November 11, 6:30-9 p.m.

Beyond Geppeto Puppets and Pierre Haskelson
Through November 14 Handmade puppets are on view. Also, sculptor Pierre Haskelson uses wrought steel and bronze to portray everything from a bird in a nest or a field of wheat ready to harvest, to whimsical Mexican folk music or a Canadian snowstorm.

Through November 13 An exhibition spotlighting artists who create in glass honors cultural exchanges between Italy and the United States.

November 14-January 15 Artist, filmmaker and writer Sergio Piera uses his camera to create a record of humanity in photographs, then he fashions a graphic collage of these photos on polished aluminum as a commentary on his favored subject, freedom. Clients include Verizon, Coca-Cola, Chrysler and BMW. Opening reception November 14, 7-9 p.m.

Inner Beauty
Through December 11 Nick Veasey creates X-ray images of objects ranging from the miniscule to the massive, from the unusual to the everyday, to look beyond the surface of objects, revealing what lies within.

Interdependence: The Sculptures of Joseph Rossano
Through December 11 Rossano creates images of animals from rare natural wood and glass, focusing on the interdependence of the natural and manmade worlds. He worked with Waterford Crystal in Ireland and as studio manager for Dale Chihuly.

Juried Art Drawing Show
October 7-31 Drawings by local artists are exhibited.
