Nestled in the heart of Winter Park, St. Margaret Mary Catholic School is a dynamic parish school, rooted in Gospel values and committed to academic excellence in a safe, caring community.
Since its founding in 1954, students have benefitted from the school’s mission of nurturing the development of the whole child – morally and spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally, and artistically.  High academic standards are infused into living one’s faith and fostering a strong Catholic identity.
Prayer is at the center of the SMMCS community. Every morning, the community, including parents and grandparents, gather for Morning Prayer. Prayer continues throughout the day before each class and during the celebration of weekly Mass and special liturgical events.
SMMCS has a history of putting faith into action. In our local community, St. Margaret Mary Catholic School students participate in a variety of outreach opportunities including the parish Thanksgiving Store and Christmas Store, collecting of items for local people in need, and packing lunches each month and making notecards for the homeless. Additionally, the school is actively involved in supporting the parish mission in Haiti.
SMMCS also seeks academic excellence across the curriculum. Still in the planning stages, the school will introduce an exploratory gifted program this fall. Additionally, teachers continue to infuse rigor into instruction to challenge each student in mathematics, language arts, and religion, as well as social studies, science, physical education and Spanish. Elementary students also have art, music, technology foundation, and library/media studies, and junior high students have the same opportunities on a rotating elective basis.
Technology is used regularly in the classrooms to enhance instruction and build student skills.
Classroom instruction is augmented with athletics and extracurricular programs in the fine arts, student council, mathematics, and scouting and within the parish community.
SMMCS is accredited through the Florida Catholic Conference and is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School. St. Margaret Mary teachers are Florida-state certified, and approximately one third possess advanced degrees.
