Studio K Opens

I’m excited to announce the grand opening of Studio K in Lake Buena Visa, an entertainment studio that offers dance and photography services in one location. This is the perfect spot for brides and grooms to learn a ballroom dance or a personalized routine for their first dance. In addition, Studio K has a photography division made up of Orlando wedding photographers who will capture your wedding day just the way you envisioned it. Group ballroom dance lessons are $15 each and custom packages are also available. Check Out Bella Bridesmaid

10/26/10

Check Out Bella Bridesmaid

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Bella Bridesmaid owner/operator Christa Edgar. From the moment I walked into her perfectly appointed boutique (pictured here) I was welcomed with a sense of comfort and style. Bella Bridesmaid is by appointment only, offering a unique one-on-one experience with brides and their bridesmaids. The store features bridesmaid dresses from a variety of designers, including Amsale, 57 Grand, Coren Moore and LulaKate (a Bella Bridesmaid exclusive). I was truly captivated by the range of styles and colors of dresses offered by Bella Bridesmaid.   Dresses range in price from $200-$400. Bella Bridesmaid is a must see for any bride (and bridesmaid), and you’re guaranteed to get a high level of customer service from Christa (as noted from a...

Wedding Don’ts

10/22/10

Wedding Don’ts

There are a few things, as a bride, you want to avoid the week leading up to your wedding. I’ve seen them all happen and want to make sure you avoid each of them. So, here are my top four Wedding Don’ts: 1) The week of your wedding is not the time to select a new hairstyle. Routine trims and coloring to maintain a current style are OK, but try to schedule them at least two weeks before to avoid any “oopsies.” 2) A facial is a wonderful way to relax but it can be brutal on your skin, so have it done a month or two before your wedding. 3) Don’t hit the beach or spray on your tan on the days leading up to your big day.   The goal is to avoid painful burns and nasty stains on your gown (test spray tans in advance to avoid rashes as well). 4) Crash...

Reception Trends

Reception Trends

An emerging trend with wedding receptions is adding furniture and mixing the shapes and sizes of tables. The days of using only round, 10-top tables are just about over. Mix it up: use triangular tables, put some on platforms, throw in different types of chairs and stools that complement each other, add sofas and lounge areas. This is one of the quickest ways to switch things up at a wedding, yet gives a truly unique feel. Another idea is to ditch the nameplates and assigned seating. By setting up your reception with furniture and varied seating options, you’re creating a fabulous event that allows people to get up, move around, mix, mingle and socialize the way you would want them to. PhotoMingle

10/15/10

PhotoMingle

PhotoMingle is a one-of-a-kind, interactive encounter that brings together the best features of a photo booth and guest book. This brand new software was created by Orlando wedding photographer Kellie Warren-Underwood  (KWU Weddings) and her husband Mike Underwood. The touch of your fingertips makes PhotoMingle come alive. Wedding guests simply step up to the PhotoMingle 55-inch monitor and it takes their photo or records video.  The guests then can write a message using their fingertips or the virtual keyboard (the touch screen capabilities work much like the iPad and iPhone). After the wedding PhotoMingle can also create a hard-copy “guestbook” of all the photos and notes taken. For more information and to view a video on how PhotoMingle works, visit ...

Disposable Flatware

10/08/10

Disposable Flatware

I was at an outdoor event recently and was pleasantly surprised to learn about an upscale option for disposable cutlery (with an added bonus for coming preassembled).  The disposable cutlery, with the same shine and silver sparkle as stainless, is wrapped in a linen-quality dinner napkin and sealed with an elegant band. The sets   address both the need for a formal presentation while reducing the costs associated with renting flatware and napkins from caterers. These napkin rolls are ideal for an outdoor reception at any venue. Options include a fork and knife in a white napkin; a fork, knife and spoon in a white napkin; and a fork, knife and spoon in a black napkin. Priced at $72.60 each, a case contains four 30-count bags.  Visit pjpmarketplace.com and search...

Wedding Gown Trunk Show

Wedding Gown Trunk Show

Wedding dress designer Vicky Anglo of Anglo Couture will be hosting a trunk show Oct. 15-17 at PlanIt! Boutique. This is no ordinary trunk show – brides will have the opportunity to try on dresses from the collection and work directly with Vicky to find the perfect gown. What’s so unique about this experience is a bride’s ability to modify a dress she likes from the collection or completely design a brand-new dress right on the spot. Even if you already have a gown, Vicky’s team can also assist in accessorizing any wedding day frock. Even though I’ve been married for more than five years I still love weddings and can’t wait for Vicky to put me in some beautiful gowns for fun – check back for pictures. It’s best to make an appointment but...

Selecting Flowers

10/01/10

Selecting Flowers

Flowers have a longer season due to imports from warm climates and commercial growers cultivating flowers under glass. But it’s still important to know what flowers will be in season for your wedding date so you don’t get your heart set on something that may not be available. Keep in mind that selecting seasonal flowers provides the best quality and lowest prices. Don’t be afraid to get creative and use unique flower options for your season. Some examples for winter include  amaryllis (pictured here), holly, ivy, pussy willow, poinsettia, evergreen boughs, eucalyptus and freesia. Consult your florist for a complete list of appropriate seasonal flowers.
