Formal Place Settings
According to Amy Vanderbilt’s Complete Book of Etiquette, brides account for almost half the silver, china and crystal sold in this country every year. I was surprised to hear this since most brides I’ve encountered don’t want to consider these items for their registry, as they are more comfortable with everyday flatware and place settings. If china or silver are being passed down from a family member–take it! If not, I always encourage brides to register for at least 4-6 place settings of china. Let’s get back to formal entertaining at least for special occasions. Search local retailers that carry brands like Wedgewood, Royal Doulton and Lenox.
