Be sure to check the calendar for dates that you might want to steer clear of - and keep these handy when booking a date or making a deposit. For example, holiday weekends (like Memorial Day and Labor Day) are great because you get an extra day of festivities and the option to plan a Sunday wedding, which can end up being less expensive. Most venues reduce room rental and other fees on Sundays and weekdays. On the flip side, travel might be more expensive for guests on holiday weekends or it could possibly interfere with prearranged vacations. Breaking News for Highland Manor BridesThe City of Apopka has named Dubsdread Ballroom and Catering (the catering arm of The Tap Room at Dubsdread, located on Par Street in College Park) as the interim operator of the building, and it will handle all current catering obligations. The City has turned over a list of upcoming weddings and asked Dubsdread Ballroom and Catering to make contact and help brides in any way they can while the City sorts out the details for setting up a permanent tenant at Highland Manor. Dubsdread is also in negotiations with the City to work out a long-term contract, but several other companies have taken interest as well, so a decision will be made sometime in the near future.
